FOSDEM 2026

I had wanted to visit FOSDEM for a couple of years, but especially now that I’m freelancing, it aligned better than ever with my goals of exploring open source and contributing to projects with wider impact. The event was amazing — so huge, with countless talks, topics, and inspiring people. Being there in person was energizing and gave me a lot of perspective, surrounded by so much curiosity and collaboration.

Beyond the specifics, what I took away: in the short term, I learnt about Djangonaut, a great opportunity to dive into a long-term, coached open source project. In the long term, I left with ideas, tips, renewed curiosity, and inspiration.

In the coming weeks, I’ll be documenting my first steps with Djangonaut and what I learn along the way. This blog starts with that journey — stay tuned for more!
